1st Cohort: 2017, Austin, TX

The Proverbs 31 Women’s Organization partnered with Decker Middle School in Manor, TX, to enroll 10 female 8th grade students into the P31 Academy Program with the Austin servicing area.

The P31 Academy was provided during a 6-week program after school for the students, taught by CEO, Crystal Ngumezi.

Students were taught professionalism, how to present themselves in public, how to write a resume, and how to prepare for an interview. For the August 2017 – May 2018 P31 Mentorship Program, 5 female students from this class were inducted into the mentorship program and received a professional P31 female mentor to help them retain the skills taught in class and work toward achieving one specific goal for the program year.

Students from our program experienced a boost in self-confidence, more experience with presenting and speaking in front of people, a better understanding of what it takes to excel in high school and college, and more information on interview preparedness and how to dress professionally. Our students also participated in community service events and team building exercises with fellow mentors and volunteers of the organization.

All of the students from our Decker Middle School program location graduated middle school and continued onto a high school education.
